This is the opening scene from “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert”, which first screened at Cannes Film Festival 30 years ago this month. In the film, Tick (Hugo Weaving) and Bernadette (Terence Stamp) help Adam (Guy Pearce) realize his dream of climbing King Canyon in full drag. “I think that’s definitely one of the most iconic looks,” drag artist and costumer Philmah Bocks told CNN. Bocks has been designing costumes for 30 years, having broken into the drag scene around the same time “Priscilla” was hitting screens. The film’s legacy can also be seen in Australia’s drag scene today and, since 2021, has been broadcast to new audiences via contestants on “Rupaul’s Drag Race Down Under”.

U.S. President Joe Biden meets Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the G-20 leaders' summit in Bali, Indonesia, on Nov. 14, 2022. The Biden administration announced stiff new tariff rates Tuesday on $18 billion worth of Chinese imports. Starting this year, President Joe Biden will quadruple tariffs on imported Chinese electric vehicles, from 25% to 100%. And tariffs on some Chinese steel and aluminum imports will increase more than three-fold, from 7.5% today up to 25%. First-time tariffs will be imposed on Chinese imports of medical needles and syringes, as well as massive ship-to-shore cranes, the White House said in a fact sheet.

"Not only does this tariff protect American car companies from cheap Chinese electric vehicles, it also means that their regular vehicles — their regular cars and trucks and hybrids — will benefit, too," he said. But with Biden increasing tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles from 25% to 100% this year, automakers like Ford and General Motors have less to worry about. Biden will also raise tariffs on semiconductors, solar cells, masks and medical gloves as well as issue first-time tariffs on medical needles on syringes. Cramer also said Ford shares can go higher if the company can "curtail the immense losses in electric vehicles," which will be easier to do with these new tariffs. "The chief reason GM and Ford stocks sell at the bottom of the S&P 500 barrel is because of this existential Chinese threat," he said.

In her three decades of working with elephant seals, Dr. Marcela Uhart had never seen anything like the scene on the beaches of Argentina’s Valdés Peninsula last October. Instead, it was “just carcass upon carcass upon carcass,” recalled Dr. Uhart, who directs the Latin American wildlife health program at the University of California, Davis. H5N1, one of the many viruses that cause bird flu, had already killed at least 24,000 South American sea lions along the continent’s coasts in less than a year. Sick pups lay listless, foam oozing from their mouths and noses. Dr. Uhart called it “an image from hell.”In the weeks that followed, she and a colleague — protected head to toe with gloves, gowns and masks, and periodically dousing themselves with bleach — carefully documented the devastation.

Clear out any clutter from the living room. Find a designated space for your clutter instead. Getty ImagesIf there's one room in the house that should be clutter-free, it's the living room, according to Julie Assenberg, a designer and owner of Julie Assenberg Interior Design. That way, you have at least one place you can escape to and entertain unexpected guests, she said. For example, try to find designated spaces for your shoes, coats, gloves, toys, and backpacks rather than dropping them in your living area.

In Donald Trump’s case, we have someone with a history of inciting violence who was criminally indicted by separate grand juries in four different jurisdictions. Yet, Mr. Trump routinely makes public threats not only against prosecutors, judges and their families, but also against our current president, Joe Biden (the video of an image of him hog-tied), apparently with few consequences aside from an occasional fine. When will the judges muster the courage to hold Mr. Trump to the same standard of conduct they would demand of a terrorist or drug dealer? Why do our courts treat Mr. Trump with kid gloves, when he can potentially do more damage to our country and to people’s lives than any terrorist or drug dealer?
